Planning paid dividends for a Plumb.Co residential project in Morrinsville.

Campbell Lee engaged Plumb.Co to carry all the plumbing work involved in a new family home. “Planning and design were key,” says Campbell. “We had high expectations which Plumb.Co well and truly met.” Campbell says it helped that he and Plumb.Co director Alex Bradley grew up together in Morrinsville. “A big one for me was knowing them and their quality of work,” he says. “I also knew they covered Matamata-Piako and the greater Waikato.”

Campbell and his wife Lauren had been living in Hamilton when they began hunting for a section in Morrinsville in 2019. Once secured, Campbell – a builder by trade and registered surveyor – set about the design phase. A five-bedroom 300 square metre home was planned on the 7000 square metre lifestyle block. Campbell built the house himself, with some help, while also lining up the tradies. He met with Alex a couple of times during the design phase. “Pre-plumbing was a big one,” says Alex. “It set everything up for the fit out.”

Plumb.Co covered all aspects of plumbing requirements during the eight-month build. This included connecting on-site services – water tank and sewage system – to the building, plus underfloor plumbing. Inside, the Plumb.Co team tackled a bathroom and ensuite, along with a “powder room” for guests, outdoor shower and sauna, along with the kitchen and laundry. Campbell says while the design was standard, he admits to being “really fussy”. Early discussions with Alex looked at aspects including where the vanity sat in the bathroom, the use of pedestal taps, and that the wastes were in the correct position. The bathroom included a bath, toilet and vanity, as did the ensuite. With three children, Campbell says the design caters for wear and tear, including level-entry showers.

Plumb.Co also hooked up the tub and washer/dryer in the laundry.

The kitchen features an island bench, with Plumb.Co connecting the dishwasher and taps in the double sink. A feature, which Plumb.Co was also involved with, is a boiler unit under the sink which can send hot or cold water – even soda water – through to a separate tap. “You don’t have to boil the jug,” says Alex. “It’s kind of like an old Zip.”

He says Plumb.Co was one of the first on the the site and was their at the end of the project. “We were in and out during the whole build.”

Campbell says what impressed him most about Plumb.Co’s performance was leading hand Josh Johnson. “It was just his manner and the way he dealt with the whole process,” says Campbell. “He kept us informed and was very thorough.” He says while Josh was very knowledgeable, he also made sure the site was kept clean and tidy, which was very important to us.

During the building project, Cameron says Plumb.Co adapted to a few changes made along the way. “Using a local company, we had a really good rapport with them,” he says. “The outcome was outstanding. I would highly recommend Plumb.Co.”
